The #1 EDC Mistake That Nearly Killed My Daughter

“Daddy… Are we going to die?"

I wanted to hold her tiny hand and say, “No”…

But the car was slowly filling with water.

It surged up my legs, turning my muscles to blocks of ice.

I tried the windows again.

Completely jammed.

My fists were bloody from trying to break the glass.

It felt like time stood still…

Like this might be the last moment I’d ever see her face.

But then… something happened.

Something I never expected.

And I’m incredibly grateful it did…

Because it revealed the biggest hole in my so-called “preparations.”

The one thing I never thought to account for.

And this experience, as painful as it is to share…

Led me to a simple spy survival secret, buried deep in Cold War archives…

Which is now protecting my family 24/7 and giving me peace of mind I didn’t think was possible.

It changed how I prepare for disasters forever.

And I want to share it with you today, to make sure you’re never caught off guard like I was.

Let me backup for a second…

For privacy purposes, you can call me Tom.

I live in a town in Ohio.

Small town, you know the kind…

One stoplight, everybody waves.

I’m not some Navy SEAL or survival expert…

I’m just a regular guy.

A mechanic. A husband. A dad to a beautiful seven-year-old daughter.

Back in high school, I was the one folks counted on.

Starting quarterback. Cool under pressure.

If something went wrong, I’d be the guy to step up and handle it.

But that was a long time ago.

Somewhere between paying the mortgage, raising a daughter, and trying to keep food on the table…

I lost that edge.

And I started wondering if I was still that guy people could count on…

Or if I was just pretending.

Don’t get me wrong.

As I got older, being prepared for anything became part of my personality.

That included having the bug-out bag. The hand crank radio. The emergency food buckets stacked in the garage.

I even ran little safety drills with my daughter… just in case.

Heck, every time I left the house I’d carry a knife in my pocket, and a mini flashlight on my keychain.

But deep down, I knew something was missing.

That confidence? That cool-headedness I used to have?

It had been chipped away, bit by bit.

And then, one night…

I found out just how unprepared I really was.

It was late, just after 11pm, and me and my little girl were driving home from my brother’s place out-of-state.

The road was dead quiet.

We were a couple of miles from home…

Cutting down a narrow stretch by the lake.

I could see the moonlight bouncing off the water through the trees.

My little girl was asleep in the back.

I was tired, drifting a little, just trying to get us home.

Then, out of nowhere, a deer dashed out into the road.

I swerved.

And before I could even catch my breath…

We hit the water hard.

The nose of the car dipped first…

Then came the cold.

The lake rushed in fast – icy and black – flooding the footwells and climbing up my legs.

My little girl woke up screaming.

I reached for her, tried to calm her down, but the belt was stuck.

The windows wouldn’t budge.

I slammed the controls, yanked the door handle, nothing.

I pulled my knife from my pocket to try to break the window…

But it just bounced off.

Then I tried brute force.

My fists were raw from hammering the glass.

Every breath fogged the air.

The water was halfway up my chest, and my hands were starting to go numb.

I thought this was it…

But by the grace of God…

A passing truck driver saw the splash.

He called it in, and rescue crews got there just in time.

They pulled us out half-conscious, soaked to the bone, coughing lake water.

My daughter clung to the paramedic like he was her hero.

And that’s what stuck with me.

Not the freezing water.

Not the pain in my hands.

But the look in her eyes when she glanced back at me…

Like she didn’t know if I could protect her anymore.

When we got home, my wife tried to keep her voice steady…

Said she was just glad we made it out alive.

But I could see it in her eyes too – like she didn’t quite trust me to keep us safe.

For days, I couldn’t sleep.

I lay in bed playing it over and over in my head…

What if help hadn’t come?

What if the truck had passed ten seconds later?

One night, I was in bed wide awake, scrolling through my phone in the darkness…

Looking at how bad it could have been…

And what I found chilled me.

Around 10% of ALL drowning deaths are caused by submerged vehicles…

And it’s the DEADLIEST type of single-vehicle accident there is.

The what-ifs just kept swirling around in my mind.

Every time I tried to close my eyes, the truth hit me like that freezing water:

I wasn’t the protector I thought I was.

Something was missing…

I’d spent so much time thinking about the big stuff…

Power grids going down, food shortages, civil unrest…

But I’d overlooked the simplest, most immediate threat:

Being trapped.

Inside a car. Inside a building. Inside a situation you can’t punch your way out of.

And worse… my everyday carry?

The one thing I had on me at all times?

It wasn’t anywhere near enough to save me or my family.

Sure, I had a pocketknife and a cheap plastic flashlight.

But nothing that could break safety glass.

Nothing that could wedge open a jammed door.

Nothing that could make the difference in that one life-or-death moment.

That was the hole in my armor.

The weak link that nearly cost me my daughter’s life.

It was no use trying to sleep…

I couldn’t stop thinking about everything I’d done wrong…

All the gear I’d picked up which wouldn’t save me when it counts.

I rolled out of bed while my wife slept…

And started pulling apart my gear, piece by piece.

The stuff in my glove box, my bug out bag, my so-called “everyday carry.”

Tools that looked tactical…

But would snap like cheap toys in a real emergency.

So, I started digging…

Digging through gear catalogs, Amazon reviews, posts on survival forums.

But the more I searched, the more overwhelmed I got.

Every influencer had their own opinion.

Every “must-have” list just felt like more junk I didn’t trust.

Everything started to blur together.

And for a moment…

I just sat there at the kitchen table, head in my hands, thinking:

“Maybe I’m just not built for this anymore.”

Maybe I was fooling myself.

Maybe the guy who used to be cool under pressure…

The one people counted on…

Was gone for good.

That was the lowest I’d felt since the night of the crash.

I was about to shut the laptop. Close the tabs. Call it a night.

But then the video I’d been watching rolled into the next one…

And a calm, serious voice came through my headphones.

“EDC isn’t about carrying cool gear… It’s about making it out of a room, a car, or a crisis – when no one even knows you’re in danger.”

I glanced at the screen.

It was a former CIA officer.

A guy called Jason Hanson.

I’d never heard of him before, but what he said hit me like a punch to the gut.

Because that’s exactly where I’d been.

Trapped…

No help coming…

And completely unprepared.

Turns out, Jason is a New York Times bestselling author…

He’s been on Fox News, the NBC Today Show, even Good Morning America.

He’d won Shark Tank and scored funding for his Spy Ranch out in Utah.

And now here he was, being interviewed on some survival podcast I’d never even heard of.

He was talking about real-world everyday carry. EDC, for short.

Not the flashy stuff you see in some YouTube loadouts.

This was gear that operatives actually carry in the field.

Not for convenience… but for survival.

Near the end of the interview, he mentioned a tool I hadn’t heard of before.

A Cold War-era spy tool he never left home without.

He told the story of a CIA officer – known only as Ken – who was stationed in Moscow.

Every week, Ken would slip surveillance…

And disappear into covert tunnels hidden beneath the city’s manhole covers.

His mission?

To tap into secret Soviet military communications buried deep beneath the city.

And the key to the whole op… was a tiny pry bar, small enough to fit into Ken’s pocket.

It didn’t look like much.

But the shape was everything.

Jason explained:

“The original design had something we now call the Power Angle,”

“Just the right curvature and taper to focus force like a laser.”

“It let Ken lift sealed manhole covers in silence, even though the pry bar wasn’t as long as a kid’s ruler… and that same geometry gives the modern version its power today.”

He pulled his own pry bar out of his pocket…

Then he started rattling off all its uses:

Popping jammed doors. Lifting stuck grates. Cracking open heavy cases.

He even said it could slip through TSA – and double as a makeshift knuckle duster if things went south mid-flight.

But then came the part that really got me:

“Because of the Power Angle… it can break a car window… without slicing your hand or drawing attention.”

“Corner of the glass. Short jab. That’s it. You’re out.”

The second I heard him say it, I sat up in my chair.

It sounded like exactly what I was missing.

The one piece I didn’t have the night my daughter and I went into the lake.

I was getting kind of excited…

Until I heard what Jason said next.

“Of course, this tool isn’t something you can pick up at your local hardware store… I had mine specially made by certain experts.”

He said he’d never found a version that got the Power Angle just right.

Not in stores. Not online. Not even in so-called tactical gear shops.

“Far too many pry tools are junk,” he said. “Too bulky or too brittle."

So, he had his custom made by a trusted friend.

He said it was the only version he trusted with his life, because of that one precise design secret:

The Power Angle.

And that’s when my heart sank.

Because if Jason had it made just for himself…

How was I ever going to get one?

But I knew one thing for sure:

I needed one.

So, I found his website, filled out the contact form, and sent a message.

Told him I’d seen the interview, that I was reworking my own gear, and that the tool he mentioned – that little pry bar – stopped me in my tracks.

I asked if there was any way I could get one...

Or at least find out where to have something like it made.

I kept it respectful.

Didn’t overshare.

Just hoped he’d point me in the right direction.

To be honest, I didn’t think I’d hear back.

But a few days later, I got a reply.

It was from Jason himself.

“Tom, the tool you’re asking about… it’s not something I usually share.”

“It’s not available to the public for a reason.”

He explained that he’d had a handful made by a fabricator he trusted. Just for his own team.

They weren’t mass-produced.

They weren’t for sale.

I understood.

He didn’t know me.

He didn’t owe me anything.

But I couldn’t let it go.

So, I wrote him back.

Told him exactly what happened that night.

Told him about the look in my daughter’s eyes.

Told him how I’d spent every night since tearing through my gear and coming up empty.

How I wasn’t asking out of curiosity.

I was asking because I never wanted to feel that helpless again.

Jason mentioned in the interview that he had 7 kids of his own…

So, I knew he could relate.

I ended the message with one line:

“I’m not trying to be a hero, Jason… I’m just trying to be the man my daughter thinks I am.”

“I’m not trying to be a hero, Jason… I’m just trying

to be the man my daughter thinks I am.”

The next morning, I got a reply.

“Give me a shipping address.”

A couple of days later, a small brown box showed up on my doorstep.

There was no branding or fancy packaging…

Just a return address from Utah and a note that said:

“Be safe and God Bless you.”

Inside was the tool…

And I’ll be honest, it didn’t look like much at first.

It was a solid piece of steel about the length of my index finger.

But the second I held it… I got it.

It was dense. Purpose-built.

I could see exactly what Jason meant by the Power Angle…

How it was expertly engineered to smash safety glass with a quick jab…

And tapered just enough to pry open doors, jammed latches, even crack locks.

I clipped it onto my keychain.

I must admit, I was hoping I wouldn’t need to use it to save lives any time soon…

But here’s what took me by surprise:

I started using it multiple times a week for little stuff.

You know, popping open stubborn paint cans…

Prying up a warped floorboard in the garage…

Using the ruler on the side to measure a quick cut…

Opening all of the Amazon my family orders.

Even using the built-in bottle opener to crack open a beer after a long day.

The thing was just plain useful.

And it felt good knowing that if things ever went sideways again…

I wouldn’t be empty-handed.

But it wasn’t until a couple of months later that I realized just how well it really worked.

It was the hottest day of the year – the kind where the pavement feels soft under your shoes and the air hits you like a hairdryer…

And my daughter and I had just finished grabbing ice cream.

We were walking back to the car, laughing about something dumb, when we heard the screaming.

A woman in the parking lot had locked her keys in the car…

And inside, in the back seat, were two babies.

They were red-faced… Crying… Trapped behind the glass as the heat turned that SUV into an oven.

The mom was beating on the window with her fists, sobbing for help.

A few people had gathered, just standing there, filming with their phones, saying someone had called 911…

But no one was doing anything…

I turned to my daughter and said,

“Stay right here.”

I pulled out Jason’s pry tool from my pocket…

Walked straight up to the rear passenger window…

And drove it hard into the corner of the glass.

CRACK.

The window shattered clean.

I reached in, unlocked the door, and helped the mom get those kids out.

They were okay – hot, crying, shaken – but okay.

The whole thing is kind of a blur…

But what I remember most…

Was turning back and seeing my daughter’s face.

Standing there, holding our melting cones, her eyes wide.

Like something had shifted.

Like the man she used to believe in – the man I used to be – had just come roaring back.

When we got back home, she couldn’t wait to tell her mom.

She was more excited than she was on Christmas morning…

She even called me a “hero.”

My wife gave me a look I haven’t seen for years.

That night, after my daughter went to bed, I sat down and wrote Jason another message.

I told him what happened.

How I’d used the pry tool to smash open a car window and save two babies.

How the mother was sobbing.

How no one else had stepped up.

And how that one moment had shifted something between me and my daughter.

Then I said:

“Jason, I know you don’t make a lot of these…”

“But I’m telling you… people need this.”

“If I didn’t have it that day… I don’t even want to think about how it would’ve ended.”

I didn’t expect a yes.

And at first… I didn’t get one.

He replied the next day:

“I get where you’re coming from.”

“Give me a few days.”

I told him I understood.

But I also told him what I saw in that parking lot…

The people standing there filming, waiting, panicking…

And how none of them had the gear or the guts to act.

I must’ve hit a nerve.

Because two days later, he wrote back:

“You’re right. Tools like this have saved lives more than once. And you showed it can save others.”

“So I’m doing it.”

“I’m releasing a small run with a similar design – same steel, but with improved specs."

But getting it made?

That was a nightmare.

Jason tried sourcing it through modern channels…

But nothing came close.

The angles were wrong. The steel flexed under pressure. One so-called “tactical” pry tool even snapped during testing.

He spent six months testing… experimenting with edge grinds… dialing in the exact curve of the “Power Angle.”

Most modern shops turned him away.

That slight bend — the “Power Angle” — looks simple.

But it’s the secret to how the Spy Pry generates so much force in such a compact frame.

Get it even a hair off… and the leverage fails.

Put bluntly, nothing worked.

Until Jason found one shop where an old-school fabricator still knew how to coax metal into shape.

Even then, it took tweaks to the original design, custom tooling, and a final test batch that had to pass Jason’s personal torture tests before he signed off.

The result?

A unique and deceptively simple tool unlike anything else on the market.

And now, for the first time, Jason’s releasing a limited run of this improved tool to the public.

That’s why I’m proud to introduce you to…

Urban EDC Secrets

*This is a digital product

Let’s be real, most of the guys giving EDC advice online care more about their Instagram page than a grid-down scenario…

The problem is…

You’re the one who’ll find out that advice was wrong when you follow it and your gear lets you down in a crisis.

But in this exclusive bonus you’ll discover exactly what to carry so you’re prepared at all moments…

EJ learned survival during his 25 years of military service as an Army Airborne Ranger.

He fought in both the first and second Gulf Wars, earning two Bronze Stars and over 40 other medals for his service and heroism.

Then, after retiring from the Army, EJ taught survival skills to future Green Berets and elite military warriors at the US Army SERE School.

You may know him from his appearances on the Discovery Channel series “Naked and Afraid” and “Dual Survival.”

Or maybe you saw him on the cover of Offgrid magazine.

Customer Reviews From Certified Buyers

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“The Spy Pry is a great essential tool to have instantly available for a wide variety of uses and needs. I carry one on my keychain and have one in each of my vehicle glove boxes and bug-out bags. The Spy Pry is sturdy but not bulky and is just the right size and strength to pry open locked or jammed doors, jammed window panes, open paint cans and a large number of other things that require prying apart. It’s also an important safety device if ever needed to break a car window or house window to rescue someone in peril (although thankfully I haven’t had to use it for that yet). It’s a valuable and handy safety pry tool that everyone should carry with them everywhere they go.”

“I have used the Spy Pry for opening bottles and even breaking up some stubborn ice cubes out of the freezer. I have one on each of my vehicles (I have two trucks) and put one on my wife’s key chain for her to have and use as needed. I have even used this to get into a locked bedroom door. I love this little device and am sure I will use it for other things once the opportunity arises!!! One of the best purchases that I have made for us.”

“I really like the sturdiness of this tool and the fact that it doesn’t draw attention when I have it with me. I am going to put one in each of my vehicles and give one to my daughter also. It is intuitive to use and one really does not have to think about how to hold or use it. It can cause enough pain to allow time to escape or distract if needed. And besides that, it can be used around the house to pry something up or apart, measure anything small in inches or centimeters, or even use as a screwdriver on larger screws. Great when I go to the hardware store to compare screw/bolt lengths, there’s never a ruler nearby!”

— Glenn D.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“I really like the Spy Pry because of how well it’s made and how it feels in my hand, solid! I haven’t had to use it to pry anything open yet, but when I do, I know it will do the job without any issues! I have used it to open bottles and it works well! I would recommend it to anybody! Thanks for making such a well made piece of equipment!”

“I wonder why I didn’t get this Spy Pry 10 years ago. I be 74 y.o then, like any senior I forget where I put things like car and house keys, tool box keys. I found myself havin’ to leave a house door unlocked, a back car door unlocked, tool box unlocked. A neighbor show me how to pick a lock with lock set I got from Black Bag, Guess what. I misplace that key set too. I end up goin’ thru bulky screw drivers to pry open house door, I now gota relock ‘cux of changin’ social mores in horlando, where I live. I resorted to keep house locked, tool box locked, then go to my fall back buried spare keys sets I dig up with a screw driver...duhh

Fast forward 10 years. I finally got my dream tool.. a Spy Pry. It works faster’n a screw driver when I gota resort to diggin’ up the metal box with backup key sets. I’m livin’ proof advancin’ olde age is incompatible with good health, especially memory...duhhh. I find myself pattin’ myself all around in my pockets lookin for car keys and Spy Pry bar attached to house keys. I dont put it on my car key chain, ‘cuz it wears a hole in my pants pocket. I wear a small shoulder bag with essential items, like wallet, phone, house keys, Spy Pry bar. This way I know I dont lock myself outa the house...duhhh, when I gota go back in to get car keys I forgot where I put’em.. It really sux to be gettin’ olde.

With a Spy Pry bar I get into spaces under car hood to pry loose to do car repairs. Screwdrivers bend ‘cuz stuck car parts fight back. I use Spy Pry to open stuck disc brake pads to remove’m. I put a screwdriver under Spy Pry, use it to make it a lever to act as a shim as a leveler to place a scissor car jack to prevent warpin’ under frame, of my Nissan. That firm dont use the sturdiest steel to make a subframe, to find a safe place to lift the car to do a tire change.

The Church I go to has a meeting hall, various Church groups use. It has a solid metal back door in a metal frame, but over years of repeat slammin’ it shut, it got warped in the frame. Groundskeeper comes over with a crow bar to wedge the door into alignment to get it open. 1 night we’d a meetin’, groundskeeper’s out on an errand. I let our group leader use my Spy Pry bar. He sez, wow, I wish I had 1, so I gave him the spare Pry Bar I ordered along with Spy Pry bar I carry.

I ask him how often he used it, he sez, daily, I’m glad I got 1, it beats bendin’ screwdrivers. So yes Jason, it comes in handy for a myriad of unforeseen purposes.”

“I’ve had the Spy Pry on my keychain since I bought it a couple of months ago. It’s a really well designed piece of gear, smooth to the touch, just thick and solid enough to be more than capable of carrying out the tasks for which it was designed. What I’ve found myself using most often is the angled prybar at one end of the piece... Highly recommended.”

— Tom S.

“I am happy to reply, Mr. Hanson. The device intrigued me from the moment I saw it and listened to your presentation. I have tried many different pocket pry bars over the last 30 years and this is the first one I found that is capable of doing what I want... I can recommend it wholeheartedly.”

“I bought six Spy Pry tools about a month ago. I attached one to my primary key chain and another to my car keychain that I carry daily. These things are monsters and look great. Can’t wait until I ‘need’ to use one. I have a few friends that will be receiving them as gifts.”

“I ordered several of these for Christmas stocking stuffers. These are heavy duty and solid. I have already used it as a pry bar and used the flat end as a screwdriver. I moved it to my keychain so I have access to it at all times. Quality made product that works as advertised. Thanks Jason for another product that is practical and useful.”

“I absolutely love the Spy Pry. I plan to buy more as soon as they are available. I given a few to my friends and they love it as well. So far, I’ve only used it at work to break down some boxes and it’s been very effective. It also looks great on my key chain.”

“I like my spy pry. It was a little smaller than I expected but that was good because it fit better in my pocket than I expected. It obviously pries, opens bottles and is a small but hefty, utility piece of EDC.”

“Hi Jason your Spy Pry bar is neat to have and I like it for my vehicles just in case I need it for certain situations. I bought a few for my son and his girlfriend to keep with them. It is strong and sturdy a little heavy but it is built like a tank for the size you cannot beat it. Keep up the great job. Loyal fan Mike.”

“I have looked for years for a sturdy, compact and convenient pry tool without success. When I saw Jason’s solution, I purchased a half dozen. My keychain, my wife’s keychain, my EDC bag and gifts. When I gave the first gift to a work buddy and fellow outdoorsman, he was both grateful and impressed. Have used it quite a bit and remain impressed.”

“I recently purchased several Spy Prys. I am impressed with the sturdiness of it (it is very thick for its size), its ability to pry things when needed - both with the end and the bottle opener feature. Thanks for offering such a useful item. It has become part of my pocket EDC.”

“I ordered a bunch of Spy Pry’s. When they quickly came in, the first thing I noticed was how heavy the box was. I was stumped on what could actually be in it. Turned out it was full of Spy Pry’s. (I said I ordered a bunch.) That’s the first thing you notice. Just how heavy these things are. Heavy, Solid. and Strong. I immediately put one on my keychain and one in all my bags. Oh, and my wife thinks they are really cute. Of course I gave her one, too. I would definitely say get at least one, or a bunch like me. Thanks Jason!”

“There were two occasions as of late when the Spy Pry came in handy. The first time there was an early frost and everything thing was frozen. My shed door was frozen shut and I was able to chip away enough ice and pry the door open using my Spy Pry. The second occasion I was working with some 8x8 timbers on a concrete slab. I couldn’t get my fingers under them to lift it up. I tapped my Spy Pry with my hammer under it and it afforded me enough room to get a grip, and pick it up. It’s a handy little item to carry around!”

— Michael D.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Hey Jason, Since you asked for feedback on the Spy Pry I offer the following. The Spy Pry is a very well made, sturdy tool which I have found most useful. Although it is a bit heavy and bulky to carry on my key chain, there is always one in my truck with easy access. I also feel comfortable if I ever needed to defend myself because it is extremely sturdy, hard and sharp. I’ve also used it to open paint cans and lift nails. I will continue to explore all options for its continuing use.”

— Bob L.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“I love and recommend the Spy Pry because you can use it to not only pry with but as a self-defense weapon, screwdriver, to measure with when you wouldn’t normally be able to and can have it with you pretty much always.”

— Dennis H.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“The Spy Pry looked a bit odd at first glance. But I took note of the solid, heavy material of the curved prying end of it, and it became clear. This is no flimsy tool pretending to be a useful item. Compared to my EDC pocket knife, which is pretty strong and which I might otherwise try to use for prying, the Spy Pry is heavy, twice as thick, with no joints to fail! One. Solid. Piece. Of. Material!”

— Glenn C.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“I haven’t had to use the Spy Pry for an emergency situation yet, but it’s been very helpful in everyday situations like opening paint cans, taking a quick measurement, and opening packages. Excellent sturdy construction makes it perfect for EDC and any heavy tasks. Thanks for a quality product.”

— Greg M.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“It’s no secret that the world is getting crazier. Being prepared for a major crisis is critical. The Spy Pry is definitely a tool you want to have in your bug out bags, disaster kits, and EDC options. You never know when you’ll need this tool. It was absolutely designed to handle emergencies, but if all you get out of this tool is a tasty drink opened or a paint can pried open to paint a baby’s new room, well then it’s worth having for those occasions too. You definitely want to be the person who can pull this tool out and save the day. I currently have one stored in my bug out supplies as part of my tools. It is definitely a well built tool, it certainly won’t snap in half when you need it most. Remember it’s better to have a tool like this and not need to use it, then to need it and not have it. Buy one for your home, your car, your pocket, or your purse. It’s a great way to be a little bit more prepared.”

“Hi Jason, It’s a pleasure to write about this ‘Spy Pry’, 1 of a few that I recently got from you! Why I didn’t get mine long before now is kind of a blank ‘duh?’, as I have used this great tool so many times already!!! I’m retired, but still work a part time job as a courier, mainly driving OTR throughout the Rocky Mtn West, and this little, but rugged Spy Pry, has been a faithful and EDC tool for me, as I used to use a bulky and long screwdriver to help me separate different packages bunched up close and tight with one another. Now my Spy Pry goes literally everywhere with me, tucked safely in my pocket. And talk about strong, sturdy and rugged, I haven’t found anything yet that it can’t pry apart, easily and effortlessly! I also carry a 2nd one in my back pocket with an emergency set of keys attached to it, as it can also be a great EDC Self Defense Tool for me as well!!! With just a quick move here or there, I can put any assailant swiftly on the ground or anywhere I want them to be, because my Spy Pry has all the sharp or rugged edges that give me the pain compliance results I might need. I’m also trying to convince my older brother that he needs one of these in his pocket, too, as he has to travel all around the world in his teaching job, and after practicing with it, he could gain a new level of security and awareness, as well as peace of mind, as he travels in large or small crowds...Thank you, Jason, I’m so glad I wasn’t too busy and overlook your email this time. This is really a great ‘tool’, that anyone can easily use and carry with them daily! I almost forgot to mention, too, that my Spy Pry can also break out car windows if needed in an accident, and the damaged door is unable to open, you now have a safe way to exit from a damaged vehicle! Again, thank you, and I will be ordering more of these Spy Prys from you soon!!! Be Safe, and Be Alert Always.”

“I must admit, I mostly bought the Spy Pry tool out of curiosity, wondering how such a small object could be so highly praised and promoted by Jason. But knowing his reputation and having purchased many of his previous items, I know he usually doesn’t disappoint. So I bought several of them, and with the Holidays approaching I now have several Christmas gifts to give to others as well. I have come to love this Spry Pry tool, it is much heavier and durable than originally anticipated, so I now keep one on my key chain and carry it everywhere. I have used it as a screwdriver as well as prying open several cans. Also comes in handy for opening Amazon boxes! And with the weight and solid construction, it makes a great personal protection tool as well. Overall a very impressive tool!”

“The Spy Pry keychain has been a godsend in many ways for me. The day after it was delivered to me, I used it to pry off my water meter cover to see if the city had actually replaced it. A few days later, it came in handy when opening a storage room door. While I haven’t had to use it in a self-defense situation, I would feel comfortable doing so if nothing else was at hand. All in all, it’s a surprisingly valuable product, considering I initially purchased it as a potential self-defense tool for use on commercial airline flights.” —

“I was happy to add the Spy Pry to my collection of gadgets. Thus far, I have used it to open packages, which it has handled with ease. I have not yet needed it for the many other functions that it is designed to perform. I am pleased with my Spy Pry purchase. This unique tool is a solid piece of steel and I look forward to using it for many tasks.” —

“For those of you who have not held a Spy Pry, I will admit I was a little skeptical after watching the presentation. Overall, I liked the package, and because it is so close to Christmas I bought a few extra for stocking stuffers. This is a compact, multi-use tool that can survive for generations to come. This is not an exaggeration. It is a fact. Congratulations to everyone who took advantage of this offer. I would like Jason to send a separate email with just the instructional use of the Spy Pry that can be sent to my family members who will receive my gift... Merry Christmas.”

“Hello Jason, I have to say that the Spy Pry is one hell of a handy tool. I have tried out a variety of small EDC pry bars over time, and while many had some good features, the Spy Pry really does stand above the rest when it comes to trying to pry heavier items, that specially designed curvature REALLY makes a difference. I was trying to get 2 chunks of steel apart the other day, I had tight quarters to try and get in to begin with, but that nice sharp edge got in there when nothing else was doing it. A little grunting and swearing, lol, and the two parts came apart. I am not sure how I was going to get it done if that had not worked. I had tried heating, pounding with a sledge, and had not gotten anywhere. Until I used the Spy Pry. It was still tough, lol, but that tiny bar gave me the leverage I needed. Thank you so much for getting these out and available Jason, truly, I can see where they can be a real life saver if ever the need arose. With respect.”

“The Spy Pry is a great little tool. Due to its size, it is easy to overlook its usefulness and effectiveness. I carry it with me almost everywhere, and it is a rare day I do not use it. Over a week, I use it at least 8-10 times. I highly recommend it: in addition to being useful, it is compact, easy to carry, easy to use, and amazing how many uses it ha.”

— Tom B.

“The spy bar fits in the palm of your hand. Will open a paint can with the pry bar. Will leave a nice mark in a piece of wood. It will leave a hole about the size of a quarter in a piece of thick cardboard. Only drawback is if you don’t have it turned the right way it can be hard on your hand when going through wood.”

— George R.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Jason Hanson has been the source of reliable self defense information for me for several years so purchasing a Spy Pry on his recommendation made perfect sense. It is sturdy and well made, but I have not found a time to use it. It is too heavy for EDC if it is not going to be used, but it makes a nice addition to a survival kit or bug out bag.”

— Phillip C.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“To be honest, I had zero expectations when I purchased several of these Spy Pry tools. I wasn’t sure what to expect, would it be made of cheap flimsy metal or what?! Needless to say, I was very pleasantly surprised with the Spy Pry and the quality of said tool. I even got a chance to use it at work when we received some sample product that was nailed, very well I might add, inside some wooden crates. While my warehouse manager went to get a crowbar, I decided to take it upon myself to see if I could open the crates up. And, open them up, I did. By the time he came back with the crowbar, I had all four crates opened up. He couldn’t believe that I had opened them with my Spy Pry tool. I carry it on my key chain and will not hesitate to use it again. Also, it is heavy enough that if I were to swing it at an attacker’s head, he would go down, instantly. Great Tool!!”

— Charles B.

“I absolutely love the Spy Pry. What is so unique about it, is there is no searching for this self defense tool because it is part of your keys. It is a perfect size too. Walking to my car with this bad boy definitely gives me added security. I have given two away and they love it! The whole ‘Spy’ design. Genius!!”

“I must tell you that the Spy Pry is a heavy duty device that can be used as a weapon if need be or as a strong pry tool. I also just recently flew on 5 different flights and not once was I questioned about what it was. Knowing I had that on the flight was reassuring.”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Dear Mr. Hanson: I wanted you to know I received the Spy Pry and several others I ordered for friends and family. They came exactly as you described. The gifts I have given were very well received, especially when I described how the Spy Pry could be used. I do not attach them to my key chain or my car keys, as I am concerned that if using them in a hammer punch, I might lose them and not have a means of escape to my car. Instead, I keep the Spy Pry hidden in the cup holder of my car, which allows me immediate access, does not take up too much room, and cannot be seen by a thief or an intruder, as the design blends in with the bottom of the cup holder. I have not had to use the Spy Pry for defensive maneuvers, but it does give me a good feeling of security, especially at night in parking lots. The Spy Pry is the perfect size in that it can be concealed in my hand, and a danger stranger would not be forewarned as to my holding it. The device is easily used to open boxes, and my girlfriend got into my car with a box she wanted to open, and I was able to use the Spy Pry for this purpose. There is an imprint on each side of the Spy Pry showing centimeters and inches on the other side. I was able to settle an argument with someone who did not think that five centimeters was as long as I was saying. I also think that in a situation where I could not open my car door or the window, I might be able to punch my way out with the Spy Pry. I have not taken it on an airplane yet; however, I do believe it would make it past TSA scrutiny. I frequent district courts often, and the security guards and deputies have not allowed me to bring it in. They will not allow tactical pens as well. The closest I have come to a make-shift weapon in courtroom situations is a pair of scissors I have in a trial box, and a very well-built, sturdy steel ballpoint pen. Courtrooms seem to be more secure than TSA. The main point of this note is to tell you I am completely satisfied with the Spy Pry. When I first opened the package, I thought it was too small. Upon looking at the design and my hand, I realized it was the perfect size for the intended use. Obviously, the Spy Pry was not intended to be used like Stanley Pry. I would be a bit happier if it were not made in China, but I suppose the price tag would be much greater if it were made in the USA. Thank you for making this tool available to me. Very truly yours,”

“I have a Spy Pry on all of my key rings, so I have one with me regardless of what I am driving. It is lightweight and fits comfortably in my pocket and, along with other items purchased from Jason, has become part of my daily carry. The quality of the Spy Pry is much better than similar items some of my friends have. There are no concerns of it snapping, it is multi-functional, and it keeps me from being tempted to use a knife blade for a purpose it isn’t designed for. I used it several times this weekend. I also feel more prepared in the event of an emergency. I highly recommend purchasing!”

“What a great design. I’ve used the wedge and the bottle opener and especially like the metric and English hash marks, since I never seem to have a tape when I need one. Now I don’t have to eyeball dimensions with the Spy Pry on my keychain.”

“I love my Spy Pry and carry it with me all the time on my key chain. I have used it for several things already to include the ruler and the bottle opener and a screw driver. I even used it as pry tool to pry a lid off. I have found this tool to be solid and reliable and hope I never have to use it as a weapon against anyone but I am confident it would be effective against an opponent. Thanks for the development of this tool.”

“I haven’t had to use it to break open a car window, (yet), but I’ve added it to my keychain and it’s ready to go! I also purchased an extra one for my wife and she also has added it to her keys. I have used it a couple times for something different then it was designed for. I do woodworking and I will save downed tree limbs that are easy, (mostly), to cut up after they dry out on my table saw and make things with them. There’s been a couple times that my cut wasn’t exactly straight across, (cut one side then turn it over and finish cutting through from the other side), but it worked great to use to split the wood the rest of the way. Who knew? And if I ever need to open a sewer lid, I will be prepared. Thank you for sharing this wonderful tool with everyone!”

— David S.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“I purchased the Spy Pry because I know many people who live in apartments in Chicago that have at least one older window that is painted shut and can’t be opened up to let fresh air into the apartment. The Spy Pry is perfect for prying up and open the window to get fresh cool air into the apartment. I also like that if the stuff ever hit the fan and I had to bug out I could use the Spy Pry to open a manhole cover. Also if needed I can use the Spy Pry to break a car window if the car door could not be opened in an emergency. It fits on a keychain and has so many uses practical and if needed for emergencies. I love it.”

I am so impressed with all you have accomplished and have been providing for people who need your advice and guidance in this scary world we now live in. Thank you!”

“I consider the Spy Pry as a multipurpose tool. I use it to take the staples out of my targets at the gun range, prying open paint cans, scraping labels off of boxes, and most of all, it makes for a great concealed weapon! It fits well it my hand concealed. I bought three, one for the wife and one for my friend who runs the range. He loved it. We like to brainstorm all the different uses for it. Another unique tool from Jason.”

“I purchased the Spy Pry for my truck EDC bag and keep finding myself using it for everything outside the truck. I have been using it for everyday tasks like opening boxes, removing nails and staples, scraping stickers & grime, the always needed bottle opener and the obviously intended prying open anything needed. Compact size works great for EDC and is far more reasonably priced compared to other tools advertised on Instagram or the web. Highly recommend Spy Pry to everyone.”

“The spy pry bar is a fantastic and versatile edition to any edc. Its light, compact and durable build makes for quick deployment and ease of use. I use to carry other “pry bars“ but the dynamic of the spy pry makes it easy to use even if in a stressful situation. I gave two to my sons and one to a neighbor who has trauma being trapped in a car. The sigh of relief when I gave him this tiny but life changing tool was overwhelming. As they say big things come in small packages.”

“The pry bar part of the Spy Pry has come in handy. Have used it for scraping some paint. Not bad for a screwdriver, that part works nifty. Have not had a need for the bottle opener yet. The whole tool is solid. Well done. I travel with it along with the Jaw Breaker. Great and compact devices.”

“I admit to being a 65 year old Girl Scout ~ There is nothing I hate more than being unprepared. I have a tool that will break the windshield in case of emergency but I keep it in my glove box (the car equivalent of a junk drawer) ~ After reading the story of the man getting trapped with his daughter in a sinking car, I realized that I might not even be able to reach the glove box if my seat belt won’t release let alone find the tool in the bottom of the clutter, in the dark, when seconds count! When I saw this ingenious little tool that attaches to your key chain, I could immediately think of lots of ways it might come in handy! I have already used it to open a paint can with ease! It is heavy enough to be effective but light enough to carry routinely. I bought one for all my sisters for Christmas and I know they will NOT be sitting in the bottom of any junk drawer! Thank you for sharing your tools that have saved the day! It gives me peace of mind!”

“This little tool is quite handy to have. Not only is it compact, but it’s made well and designed to withstand some abuse. I have used it to open a can and as a little pry bar. It also is a good little conversation piece with its appearance. Looking forward to see what I can all use it to do.”

“It is a nice piece of kit, but I have not put it in use as of yet. I am carrying it with me on my keychain. I am thinking that it will be the right tool at the right time, but that time has not happened yet. Something like better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it!”

“Hello Jason. Just wanted you to know the Spy Pry is a great little tool to have on hand in the garage, shop, vehicle, and on oneself. I’ve used it to open a paint can, as a flat head screwdriver to remove a light switch wall plate, to pry an extended finish nail from wood (used the hole in the hat to encompass the nail and then pushed against the nail in the direction required to remove it), and also as an extension of my hand to reach and open a drawer (lodged the top of the hat against the face of the drawer and bottom of the shoulders on the inside of the horizontal drawer handle, then put upward pressure on the pry bar end, which tightly lodged the bar allowing me to pull on it and the drawer opened). More importantly, the Spy Pry is small and lightweight, but yet has a heavy feel and will work well as a weapon of opportunity should the need arise. Thanks Jason...I’ve purchased a few of your products and have been satisfied with all, and your customer service is great.”

— Patrick C.

“Hello Jason, I love the spy pry! It’s heavy duty and great for opening boxes and of course, prying. I’ve even used the ruler. Best of all is the peace of mind, knowing how effective it can be in an emergency situation to break a window or get at or out of a dangerous situation. The only current drawback is that I am trying not to be too obvious when using it, because I plan to give the other two spy pry to my adult children for Christmas. They make great stocking stuffers!... Thanks for a great product!”

“I received three of your suggested Spy Pry devices, along with a knife/screwdriver/seat belt cutter/nail puller/oxygen valve opener/sawblade/window breaker folding knife. The Spy Pry is about 4 inches long. The working end is an angled chisel perfect for opening a closet or door latch by placing it in the crack and pushing the latch open. It is rugged 1/4 inch thick and can withstand abuse. It has a bottle/can opener and a 2 inch ruler and a drilled hole for a key chain. It is perfect for opening paint cans and pressure sealed cans by using a prying motion. It could be used as a last ditch weapon by scraping the chisel end across or into an attacker’s throat or face. It can also be used to split small pieces of wood when creating starter twigs for a fire. The folding knife is an all-purpose rescue tool that has a holder to attach to your pant pocket. It is a highly versatile device. Both devices are essential pocket tools for emergency workers and anyone who prepares for everyday needs. I have them on me and gave a Spy Pry to my wife and put one into a Go Bag in my vehicle. Thank you Jason. You give excellent advice and I highly recommend to everyone your comprehensive books: Crisis Proof and Alone and Unafraid.”

“I find the spy pry very strong and lightweight. Two usages that have worked very well for me: 1. pushing the spy pry into the ground so I can attach the other end of the trip wire when there is nothing else to attach it to. 2. use the spy pry when you park your motorcycle on soft ground, it stops the kickstand from sinking into the ground thus stopping the motorcycle from falling over.”

“I love the spypry and have already used it as a prybar, possibly saving the tip of my knife. It’s amazing how much leverage it gives in such a small package. It is surprising how heavy and sturdy it is. I have one in my edc, one in my glovebox and gave one to my dad. I’m considering giving them out to friends and family for Christmas.”

“I really like the Spy Pry I purchased from you. When I received my package I was impressed with the solid, rugged feel to this tool. I have it set up as a key ring for my house keys. Going through airport security last month it did not even raise an eyebrow in my carry on bag. I have been blessed that I have not had to face any life threatening emergencies where I need a glass breaker or emergency extraction tool, but it does make an awesome bottle opener. My one slight criticism, because I have large hands, I would like it to be about half an inch longer. If I had to break a car window I would like it to protrude just a little bit farther from my closed fist. Overall it is a solid well designed tool that should fulfill its intended purpose very well.”

“I have found it very useful by placing it between two objects (boards, panels, stone slabs, etc.) then leveraging them apart to lift and separate. I use it like a mini-crowbar.”

“I started carrying the tactical pen and the spy pry every day. Because I’ve needed something similar several times and didn’t have it. I hope I never have to use them except as a pen or a bottle opener. But they’re sturdy enough to get the job done.”

“Here’s my 100% honest review, Upon first receiving and opening my new Spy Pry I was at first a little alarmed at the weight, but as I thought about its construction and design and intended durability I came to accept this as a good sign, it is as durable and nearly indestructible as promised. That said, it fits neatly on my keychain, and at a glance you can tell it will serve well as a palm sized pry bar, emergency glass breaker, box opener, bottle opener and more. This handy little tool is everything that was promised, and more. I keep one on my keys and have 2 more waiting to be tucked in my bugout and range bags.”

“Absolutely love the spy prys. I got em on all my car keys. Piece of mind knowing, that my wife carries hers. Light enough to not really notice the weight, but beefy enough to know it can do what needs to be done, when the time comes. Thanks so much for these.”

“I purchased several Spy Pry tools to give as Christmas gifts. They are super sturdy (and cute too) and will come in handy in a pinch. I like to give useful gifts as stocking stuffers and have already given tactical pens to the same folks who will receive these, so I know the Spy Pry tools will also be appreciated. Thank you for offering helpful tools and self-defense items along with training videos. I never leave the house without my tactical pen, and I’m sure the Spy Pry will also become a favorite.”

“I’m kind of a fanatic when it comes to EDC keychain items. Pocketknives, flashlights, various little tools are things I like to carry in my pocket so that when situations come up, I have a tool at the ready. Up until now, I’ve lacked a crowbar that I have been able to have on my keychain. Knives don’t have the ability because the blades are too thin. Other tools don’t have the length or strength to act as a crowbar. Now along comes the SpyPry. It has been the answer to having a crowbar in my pocket. It’s beefy, it’s compact and it’s light. It fits nicely on my keychain and in my pocket. It’s nice to have for everyday uses, and gives me a sense of security for possible emergency situations.”
